Some people consider their pets as much a part of their family as the humans. I understand that completely. We even sign our gift cards with the names of the animals as well. Our family is full of humans and animals and for the last 20 plus years it also included a stuffed bear as well.

Many years ago we got this huge Coke bear. We named him Cokey. I know it wasn't real original but it was named by my children. That bear has seen so much through the years. He was there for my kids to lay on when they watched TV or did homework. He was there to warm them on cold winter nights. He was there to wear opposing teams jerseys and be tackled on football Sundays. He was there to hold when they were sick. He has been there for my grandkids to lay on while they play with the iPad or video games. He has comforted two generations of kids in my family. He survived multiple animal attacks and even had his ear ripped off and had the hole covered with duct tape.

Unfortunately, we had to put Cokey down yesterday.  We are getting new carpet in the basement and only certain items are making the cut to get re-entry into the home. I was told Cokey was not making the cut this time. He is too smelly and stained and losing his stuffing, so it is time to say goodbye. I too am smelly and stained but somehow have made the cut so far. I took Cokey out for one last ride yesterday. Thanks for all the love, comfort and joy buddy. You were a great bear and will always be loved, and remember, it was not me who said you had to go.
