My wife's father Nick just passed away over the weekend. It is a very sad time in our family. Nick was a great man who served his family and his country. Nick was a Korean War vet who deserves great praise and honor. He died unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep.

Nick was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. We had our difficulties at first. He came from a hard working, appreciate everything you have background and I was a long haired DJ. I was not what he had in mind for his baby girl. Through the years we grew to have an appreciation for each other he learned to trust that I was a good man. He was not the "I love you" type but you knew exactly where you stood with him and I appreciated that. My wife Kyla and her dad had a very special relationship. They really understood each other and had a bond that you hope you to have with your Dad. My kids just loved their Grandpa. My daughter Vanessa and Grandpa Nick were very close and my son Nick is named after him. He will carry his grandpa's name with him for the rest of his life proudly and has so many of his traits.

Nick, thank you for the gift of your beautiful daughter. I promised you I would take care of her and I will. I will never forget the last time I got to see Nick. I went home for our class reunion and took him out to lunch. When we dropped him off something happened that had never happened before. He stopped, hugged me and told me he loved me. He had never said that before. Those were the last words he ever said to me. It was like he knew he wouldn't see me again and wanted me to know. I love you too Nick. Thank you.
