Runoff Starting to Raise Water Levels in Big Thompson Canyon

As the snow melts, water levels will raise in Northern Colorado.  Don't worry, though, we're not talking about another flood.

Runoff will flow into Lake Estes, through Olympus Dam and into Big Thompson Canyon. Water flowing out of the dam and into the canyon was expected to reach 150 cubic feet per second by noon Monday. One cubic foot is equivalent to one basketball flowing down the river per second.

The Coloradoan reports that water from the Big Thompson River is currently being directed to Horsetooth reservoir, since Carter Lake reservoir is full.

With all this water, hopefully we'll avoid a drought again this year!
