The 3rd annual Running of the Wieners dachshund races are set for Saturday, June 7th in Loveland. “Every wiener is a winner,” and each dog will receive a participation ribbon, with gold, silver and bronze medals awarded in each division. The event will benefit Fort Collins Cat Rescue & Spay/Neuter Clinic.

The Running of the Wieners is hosted by Big Beaver Brewing Co. and Blown Spoke Hard Cider Co., which are donating a portion of their proceeds of beer, hard cider, barbecue and merchandise sales for the day to the low-cost spay/neuter clinic for dogs and cats. The races will be at a different location this year – Blown Spoke’s new cider production facility at 245 S. Madison Ave. in Loveland.

Dachshund owners can pre-register their dogs by completing the online registration form at, or register at noon on race day. It is free to participate, and more than two dozen dogs are already pre-registered. Mixed-breed dachshunds up to 25 pounds are allowed but will have a separate division. All dogs must be current on their rabies vaccinations and be kept on a leash.

The event is Saturday June 7th! Competitors may begin checking in at noon. Doors will open to the public and barbecue will be available at 12:30 p.m. The wiener dog races will start at 1:30 p.m. The entire event is open to the public, and spectators are welcome.
