We have all seen the wildfires already this season and the damage that they can do.  Unfortunately we are just getting started. There is a Red flag warning in effect from 9 a.m. this morning to 8 p.m. tonight. That means fire danger is extremely high.

Strong and gusty winds will develop across the region today and continue into the evening hours. Expect winds from 25 to 35 MPH with gusts up to 50 MPH.  Relative humidity will be as low as 11%. Any fires that start may spread quickly and may be difficult to control this afternoon and evening.

Central and East Adams and Arapahoe Counties; Central and South Weld County; Larimer County Below 6000 Feet, Northwest Weld County; Larimer and Boulder Counties Between 6000 and 9000 Feet; Morgan County; North Douglas County Below 6000 Feet, Denver, West Adams and Arapahoe Counties, East Broomfield County; Northeast Weld County

Conditions

  • Winds...Southwest 25-35 mph...With gusts up to50 mph.
  • Relative humidity...As low as 11 percent.

Course of Action

  • All outdoor burning should be delayed . Any small spark including carelessly discarded cigarette butts may generate a large wildfire.
