WHY WE HAVE THE REALITIES RIDE

Sara is only 12 years old – but  had to grow up fast to survive. She is the oldest of four children in her family and although she took on the role to protecting her siblings from the brutality of her addict parents, it came at a grave personal cost as she was subjected to physical and sexual abuse, extreme neglect most of her young life.  She always put the needs of her younger siblings first, and she would cook their meals, watch over them, clean the home and get them all ready for school.  After her removal from the home, when this abuse came to light, she has been in foster care for the past 3 years and known multiple placements.  But thanks to your support we have been able to offer her the services for recovery she needs and is now in a stable placement, able to visit her siblings and for the first time at age 12, is learning what it is to count on someone else to care for her and to be a child.
