Randy Travis had his first number one hit 30 years ago back in 1986 when his song "On the Other Hand" reached the top. He would go on to do that about 20 more times, so far, in his career. Randy was the first of the new young troubadours who made country cool again. I don't feel Randy ever gets the credit he deserves for making country music the huge phenomenon it became. Country would not be the number one format if it weren't for the body of work Randy has given us.

I said that Randy first topped the chart 30 years ago but the last time he did it was 13 years ago today back in 2003. Randy hadn't had a big hit for a few years and then the song "Three Wooden Crosses" fell into his lap. Randy took that one and raced to the number one position. I hope someday he adds to it but for now it is the last time he has seen that spot on the chart. Continued healing Randy. We are all pulling for you.
