Rains Expected Today in Colorado Could Worsen Flooding
The Larimer County Sheriffs Office said additional rain overnight did not cause any new problems but we are on high alert for flooding again today in Larimer County. Fort Collins crews are monitoring the Poudre River closely as the forecast is for an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain. Why so much moisture? The monsoon season is still lingering over Colorado.
There are still 482 people unaccounted for, mostly in the mountain areas in the Big Thompson Canyon. That doesn't mean they have died, they just have not checked in.
L.C.S.O. spokesman John Schulz said all those who could be rescued on the ground have been, and it's iffy that helicopters can get to the others because of this rain. There is a media press conference at 10 this morning, so there will be new information here right after.
