Public Memorial Held for Jessica Ridgeway in Arvada
More than 2,000 friends, family and community members gathered last night to remember the 10-year-old Colorado girl who was abducted October 5th on her way to school in Westminster.
A public memorial service for Jessica Ridgeway was held Tuesday night at Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada. Many people wore purple, Jessica's favorite color. Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, whose son is Jessica's age, told attendees that everyone in the state is with the Ridgeways. The ceremony opened with a slideshow of pictures set to Jessica's favorite music, including "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen.
As Westminster police continue their investigation into her abduction and murder, they ask the public's help. Jessica disappeared on her way to school October 5th. Hundreds of police officers, bloodhounds, and scores of volunteer searchers found her dismembered body last Wednesday in a park about 7 miles from her home. The FBI suspects that someone in the community knows her killer and warns residents to be on alert.
