Poudre Valley Hospital awarded the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office with two Automatic External Defibrillators as part of a special grant program that recycles used but functional equipment.

The AEDs will be used by the Sheriff’s Department that serves the Estes Park and Red Feather areas.  Sergeant Sullivan said that while the Sheriff’s Office has had AEDs available in its office facilities for some time, “This will be the first time an AED has been deployed on the street by the Sheriff’s Office.”

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted with the grant application process by Steve Main, EMS Manager for Poudre Valley Hospital who noted that, “They (the deputies) frequently beat us to scenes by considerable amounts of time due to their deployment throughout the County, while we respond from Fort Collins.”   Mr. Main felt it would be beneficial for the deputies to have the AEDs “due to the large area and populations they serve, especially during the summer tourist season.”
