Windsor police are gathering information after the death of a 7-month-old early Thursday morning.

The infant died earlier this morning; and child abuse may be to blame, according to The Coloradoan.  No arrests have been made yet, but the investigation is ongoing.

Windsor Police Chief John Michaels said officers responded to a medical call at 342 Telluride Drive in Windsor on March 21, where they say Trina Loucks, 36, was running a non-licensed day care center out of her home. The infant, Layton Haggard, was having difficulty breathing and was transported from the residence to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland.

Haggard died at about 5 a.m. Thursday after suffering symptoms of shaken baby syndrome, Michaels said. An autopsy of the child is set for Friday.

This just makes me sick to my stomach.  How could somebody do that to a baby?  I don't even have kids yet, and even I know there are certain things you just don't do to a baby!  Some people don't deserve to be around children.

Our thoughts go out to Layton's parents, Stacy and Ryan Haggard, as well as the rest of the Haggard family.

We'll post updates once we get more information.
