On September 30th LCSO responded to a report of two or three individuals entering a residence claiming to be law enforcement officials in the 4800 block of Foothills Drive in Fort Collins. One showed a badge and a gun to gain entry. According to the report, nothing of value was taken and no one was harmed. When the resident asked to see their credentials, they refused. The resident then called the sheriff's office. A similar incident happened in Greeley on the same day.

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office said to request official identification from anyone who claims to be a law enforcement officer if you have any doubts about their true identity. Additionally, you can call your local law enforcement or 911 for a confirmation. A legitimate law enforcement officer will understand your concerns as your safety is of the utmost importance.
