Peyton Manning Jerseys are popular here in Colorful Colorado and across the nation with Broncos fans. You can spot at least a dozen on any given day during football season when you venture out of the house. I own one and I proudly sport my team spirit everywhere I go on Orange Friday and on game days. So when I found out Peyton Manning jerseys have been banned in a Northern Colorado school district, I was kind of blown away and wondered why.

Is it because the head of the district could be a Patriots fan? Nope, that's not it. I wish I could tell you that the ban was just a fun jab from someone who just simply didn't care for number 18, but it's simply not the case. Speaking of the number 18, that is the reason why the Manning has been banned.

Greeley-Evans school district 6 has had the the ban of specific numbers on jerseys and shirts since 2011. The simple reason... Gang activity. According to the District 6 spokeswoman, Theresa Myers "gangs use those items of clothing for a few reasons" she said "they use them or recruit and they use them to intimidate". She went on to say that there is a very real risk with displaying the banned numbers, especially for students who are not part of a gang associated with the specific numbers. In the case of Peyton Manning's Broncos jersey, the 18th street gang.

Not just numbers on clothing are banned. District 6 also bans shaved and notched eyebrows, red or blue shoe laces and more. Myers went on to say that "Gang activity is still a reality here. There is no sign that it is going to go away completely, and until it does, we will probably have some kind of dress code in place to protect our kids in school."

Other Denver Broncos numbers that are banned at district 6 include:
Trevor Siemian - 13
Cody Latimer - 14
Omar Bolden - 31
Owen Daniels - 81
