Old Dominion’s ‘Meat and Candy’ Album is as Tasty as It’s Title [VIDEO]

Mark my words now. Old Dominion will be nominated for Vocal Group of the Year at all the country music award shows next year. They have just released their debut album 'Meat and Candy' and it is simply fantastic. When you call an album 'Meat and Candy', it better be tasty and this project sure is. It has plenty of candy sprinkles and lots of real meat. These guys are amazing writers, musicians and singers and this is a great showcase of all of those talents.

Matthew, Geoff, Whit, Trevor and Brad have created a fantastically diverse sound on this project. There is a little bit of everything. We know the number one smash 'Break Up With Him' but there is so much more on here. There are some more bouncy fun songs in the vein of 'Break Up With Him' like the funky 'Crazy Sexy Beautiful' and the stick in your ear sound of 'Said Nobody'. You will not be able to get the groove of 'Beer Can in a Truck Bed' or 'Half Empty' out of your head anytime soon and the new single 'Snapback' will have you singing "low stars need to be wished on, your skin needs to be kissed on, my eyes baby their fixed on you" right along with them.

I would have to say my favorites are two of the last three songs on the disc. The song called 'Song for Another Time' may be one of the best written songs I have heard in ages. Listen for all the song titles and lyrics of other songs they incorporate into this one. It is absolutely brilliant and gorgeous. The most beautiful piece on the album may be the final cut called 'We Got It Right'. Wow! The lyrics tell us that just because a relationship wasn't right for forever doesn't mean it wasn't right for it's time.
