If you ride a motorcycle, you have either been in an accident or know someone who has. Some friends of mine in Greeley have started a group to lend a helping hand.

Zac Clayton was in a bad accident last year when someone ran him off the road and left him for dead. He laid in a ditch for over 6 hours before crawling up to the road when a passing car stopped to help.

Many came to Zac's aid to help financially as he had no insurance and just needed some help to get back on his feet. There are several groups across the country that help motorcycle riders, including one here in Colorado, but none of them came to his aid. So, he, along with some other friends, including Roger Schmidt, decided to help our own downed riders here in Northern Colorado by starting Northern Colorado Biker In Distress.

They have found many sponsors already who are donating services and money to help our fallen brothers and sisters who need help. Those who need help will not be given money directly. They will be asked to submit bills they need help with and NCBID will pay those bills, medical, household, personal etc. as required under their guidelines.

If you would like to help, or know someone who needs help, they are holding their Kick Start event on Thursday, January 22 at Randy's All American Grill in Greeley. The dinner event kicks off at 5:00 p.m. and a portion of the proceeds raised that evening will go directly to NCBID.

If you have questions, want to volunteer or just want to find out more, please stop by and talk with Zac, Roger or any other board members who will be in attendance.
