As a young boy, I was fascinated with the Planet of the Apes movies and even spent an entire Saturday watching all five. So count me in for the new one in July.

There is no doubt the Planet of the Apes movies were iconic and left a legacy all of it's own. Of course, having Charlton Heston in one of the lead roles helped and Roddy McDowell and Linda Harrison didn't hurt anything either. In fact, when Charlton Heston was buried, it was said that he did three of the most important movies that everyone has either seen or eventually will.  Those movies were Ben-Hur, The Ten Commandments and Planet of the Apes.

One cool fact I learned later in life was that the film had to be shot on a relatively low budget so instead of the original movie and plot taking place in a high tech advanced society with fancy buildings, they opted for the primitive sets we grew up with.

I digress.  Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will be out in theaters in July, 2014. The movie follows the remake in 2001 that cast Heston as a dirty stinking Ape of all things and the 2011 "Rise of the Planet of the Apes." The movie trailer is pretty vague and to be honest, I'm not so sure but will hold out on an opinion but it doesn't look much like any Planet of the Apes movie.  Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will be out in July and yes, I will be one of the first in line.
