Visiting Mayberry – Mount Airy, North Carolina – Andy Griffith’s Boyhood Home

While I was visiting my sister  in North Carolina, we visited Mount Airy, which is the boyhood home of Andy Griffith.  It's also considered to be the place that the fictional town of Mayberry was based on in the "Andy Griffith Show". While I was there I snapped a few pictures with my Iphone.

We visited the Andy Griffith Museum. Since Andy just passed away a couple weeks ago, it was very busy.   I was disappointed they wouldn't let us take any pictures inside.  They had the original Sheriff's office from the show and several outfits worn by Barney, Andy, and Otis (The town Drunk).   Looking back I should have sneaked a couple of shots.

We also stopped by the home of Andy Griffith. While we were there, the Mayberry squad car pulled up while they were giving one of their tours.  I thought it made the perfect picture. I hope you enjoy. I know my family and I did.
