Normally, I would jet up I-25 on my way to work and get off at 392, head east towards Windsor straight to the radio station. Lately, I have been finding my self getting off on Highway 34 and taking County Highway 13 into town. Here's why!  It all started when one day I decided to mix things up a bit and take a different route to work. I'm glad I did! I found a pair of majestic birds... Many know them at the patriotic symbol of out beloved country, the bald eagle. Since spotting the pair perched at the top of the highest power poles, I've found myself driving that road nearly everyday for the past 2 weeks in hopes of seeing them. At least 8 out of the 10 days that I have driven down County Highway 13 I have spotted the pair.

Today I brought my camera in hopes of the chance to capture both of them. Driving up the highway, I noticed a little silhouette on top of one of the power poles. The closer I got I knew they were going to be waiting for me. When I pulled up, I grabbed my camera out of the bag and started to observe. The lone bald eagle was visibly itching at a chance to find a delectable ground scurrying breakfast.

I stood there and just watched for about 10 minutes, in hopes that the eagle would find something to munch on and give me a great opportunity to capture some action. Apparently,  there wasn't much action in terms of rodents this morning. Not too long after I took this photo, I saw a black dash in the sky. Could it be that his partner in flight would be making an appearance as well? As soon as I saw the white head, I knew that is exactly what it was. The eagle didn't land next to his partner, instead kept soaring on by.

After about 20 minutes taking photos and just watching in awe, I decided to pack it up and head to work. Not a split second went by after I packet my camera away, the first eagle took of and scooped up what appeared to be a field mouse not even 100 yards away from me. I kicked myself for putting the camera away so quickly, but there will be another opportunity in the near future.

To top off viewing eagles daily, you can't help but to truly appreciate the country views County Highway 13 gives you on your drive!
