Mountain Lion

Residents in North Fort Collins have received a reverse 911 call from the Fort Collins police because a mountain lion has returned to the city. The cougar was spotted near the 1400 block of Maple Street in Fort Collins.  You are asked to proceed with extreme caution in the area.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan: Putnam and Irish elementary schools in Fort Collins are on lockout this morning after a mountain lion was spotted in the vicinity. The lockout means students will be kept inside for recess!

A large mountain lion was also spotted in North Fort Collins on Tuesday.

Fort Collins police and Division of Wildlife officers began trailing the big cat when it was sighted after 4 p.m. Tuesday near Lee Martinez Park.

Officers were trying to tranquilize and move it, but the mountain lion got away. It is not known at this time if it is the same animal.
