Monday Mania; A Step by Step Walk Through My Morning ?

Monday curses usually pass me by. I am not typically affected by a bad Monday, I have Monday moments throughout my week(s), but today, I have been bitten.

I tossed and turned, missed the alarm, rolled over too many times and got a kink in my neck. I hopped on the Elliptical for 20 minutes, why when I got up late, who knows. Hung some laundry, fed the cat and made a cup of coffee, I wandered around as though it was Sunday and I was all by myself on this planet. I ate a protein bar and made a note that we needed more tp. Then, I noticed the time and hopped in the shower. I am still having an out of body type experience at this time, leisurely take my shower, do the after shower stuff-lotion, deodorant etc… oh wait, Giada is on the Today Show, better see what she’s cooking. Then I blow dry my hair followed by a little make-up application, note: I NEVER blow dry my hair first and along with the NEVER(s) I had gotten dressed somewhere in between Giada, the Today Show and blow drying my hair-the order of my actions is all jumbled. I grab a protein shake for lunch (I had pizza, pasta and nachos over the weekend-fail) and then spent way too much time figuring out what shoes to wear, I love my “slippers”, but its gonna be warm, but its cold right now, I should wear sandals… yes, I had this conversation with myself-really! Off to work I go…

Alright, despite that I am leaving the house 10 minutes later than normal, I decided to stick with my normal routine and get an iced coffee. The place is three people deep and only one person on the cash register/espresso machine, do I leave, no… I wait. My out of body, alternate planet, Sunday mind apparently remains to be engaged. After getting my coffee, which was quite quick as I am a regular and being seen in line actually prompted “Ashley”, my Barista to start my drink before I got to the register. The adventure continues…

On my way out of the parking lot a car is heading straight towards and as if we were playing chicken, veers off at nearly the last minute, and no, if you are wondering, I didn’t flinch-alternate world mind still apparent. I miss the green light, in fact I miss all of the green lights and heading out of Fort Collins towards Windsor there is a train. A very slow moving train hauling propellers for windmills, you know the really large ones the length of say two train cars?! And there are a million of them and the train is not going more than 20 miles an hour. The truck in front of me decides to turn around, I think, okay I will too now that I have room to take that option. I drive too far passed the turn and have to turn around, then once heading south on the right road, my travels come to a nearly screeching halt as I am the fourth in line behind a semi, feed truck and a sprayer for the entire time before my turn, upon the turn I am only stuck with the spray truck and thankfully that is for only a mile. Coming through town I hit all the red lights and am driving side by side with an unmarked police car (not that I was looking to speed) and we all know what a police car does to traffic, everyone suddenly starts driving 10 miles an hour under the speed limit.

Maybe it was the tossing and turning… maybe it was the kink in my neck… maybe something I am not aware of or maybe, just maybe its solely because it’s MONDAY! I am still a bit out of body and a bit off my game, but I am getting into this day and will conquer her evil hiccups. For you, I wish a pleasant, unchallenged day.

By the way, I did make it to work safe and sound in one piece. :)
