Robert Taylor didn't get far when he stole an ambulance yesterday morning  in Longmont. Emergency crews had been called to a home where an 86-year-old lady had fallen. While caring for her, they heard the 'back-up beeping'' of their ambulance being driven away by an intoxicated man.

After investigating, they discovered that the vehicle had been stolen by 51-year-old Robert Elmar Taylor. Police pursued the ambulance for about six blocks before the driver finally pulled over.

Taylor had bloodshot eyes, couldn’t stand up straight and reeked of alcohol, said police. When asked to explain the theft, he reportedly mumbled something about being cold. Hey, we hear you. Nothing warms you up faster than a little adrenaline rush from committing grand theft auto. Thankfully, jail is pretty warm, too.
