Rangers in Rocky Mountain National Park are searching for an Illinois man who was reported missing Tuesday night.

In a news release, park officials said that 60-year-old Jens "Jay" Yambert, of Urbana, Ill., was reported overdue by a family member on Tuesday night. It's believed that Yambert  started from the Longs Peak Trailhead at about 2 p.m. Sunday.

His car was found Tuesday night at the trailhead, and it is unknown what his planned destination or route was. It is possible he might have taken the Clark's Arrow route to the summit of Longs Peak.

Park rangers are asking anyone who has been in the Longs Peak or Mount Meeker area since Sunday, especially anyone who noticed abandoned gear or other clues, to call 970-586-1204.
