Congratulations are in order for Luke Bryan. The ‘Country Girl (Shake It for Me)’ singer’s new album, ‘Tailgates and Tanlines,’ is not only the top-selling country album, it’s number two on Billboard’s overall top 200 albums chart.

‘Tailgates’ is Bryan’s first chart-topping album, outpacing 2009′s ‘Doin’ My Thing,’ which peaked at number two on the country charts and number six on the top 200. With first-week sales of more than 145,000 units, it’s the second highest-selling debut for a country artist this year, behind only Brad Paisley‘s ‘This Is Country Music.’

“I’m very proud of this album, and to have fans connect with the music in this way is exciting and really humbling,” Bryan said. “When I was writing and recording this project, I wanted to make an album which made people forget about all the other things in their lives that might stress them out and just have fun! And to have this kind of response from my fans makes me feel like that goal was accomplished!”

‘Country Girl (Shake It for Me),’ the album’s lead single, has already sold over a million downloads, breaking Bryan’s personal record along the way to a top five position on the country charts.
