Luke Bryan has become one of my favorite male vocalists over the last few years. This guy keeps putting out songs you can’t help but connect to and sing along with. Luke does not have a voice that would make a vocal coaches chest swell with pride but for some reason it just works. He sings with an honest believability that comes through and is easy on the ears. Luke’s new album “Tailgates and Tanlines” is now out and is the best work he has done yet. I absolutely love it. It is filled with great feel good country.

The first single “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” is already a concert favorite and it is loaded with many more potential hits. Luke is definitely a country boy and it shows on songs like “Harvest Time”, “Muckalee Creek Water” and “Tailgate Blues”. Four songs stood out to me right away and have already etched a spot in my brain. “Drunk On You” is one of those songs you find yourself singing along to by the time you hear the chorus for the 2nd time. You will be singing the line “girl you make my speakers go boom boom on the tailgate dancing in the full moon”, trust me. “You Don’t Know Jack” is an awesome, powerful tune about the dangers of alcohol abuse. “I Know You’re Gonna Be There” has a cool infectious groove you can’t stop bopping to.

The album closes with a beautiful love song called “I Knew You That Way” which was written by Radney Foster and Jay Clementi. Jay is a dear friend of ours who used to play football at the University of Northern Colorado in the 90’s and is a former intern here at K99. We are so proud of Jay. He has a song on the latest Darius Rucker album called “I Might Get Lucky” as well as co-writing Sunny Sweeny’s latest hit “Staying’s Worse Than Leaving”. “I Knew You That Way” is just a gorgeous song and great way to finish off the album. If you are looking for 13 great new country tunes pick up or download a copy of “Tailgates And Tanlines” today.
