It’s no question that for all the great deals and experiences that are available on Craigslist, that there is a dark side to the service/site.

With what recently happened to Michelle Wilkins, the Loveland Police Department has decided to help you when you have a feeling of ‘sketchiness’ in regards to making a person-person transaction.

Since the dawn of man, there has been good and evil. A prime local example: one person is looking to get some inexpensive baby clothes, the other is looking to take that person’s baby out of her womb. The world can be a horrible place. That’s why we have offices of authority- to not only investigate and lockup perpetrators, but to protect the public from being perpetrated upon in the first place.

The Weld Sheriff’s office recently took a look at what they could do to protect their citizens, and they decided to use their offices as ‘safe-zones’ to conduct person-to-person transaction/business. It’s almost weird that we hadn’t thought of that earlier.

After Michelle Wilkin’s attack from a woman she came in contact with on Craigslist, the Loveland Police Department has also decided that they will take it upon themselves, on a city basis, to also provide a safe location for the public to make a transaction with someone that they don’t feel overly secure about meeting.

Better to go through a little extra hassle, than to put yourself into a potentially dangerous situation.

The Loveland Police Department lobby is available for use during regular business hours- and after hours- which would seem to be the most convenient for these kinds of transactions. They are located just off of 10th Street and Monroe on the east side of Loveland.
