Seems like a silly question, but one that causes most women grief. There are few thing's worse than trying to shave in the shower, realizing you have forgotten to shave or shaving a dry leg (sometimes a necessity)!

So, this morning I am running out the door, in a skirt, and remember I have a massage (something that really helps me hold it all together)  this afternoon. Now, I mention a skirt cause it might matter to you, for me I was more mortified by the fact that I had a massage. Honestly, not too many people at work would notice if my legs were hairy and prickly, maybe some of my closer friends, but they would just make fun of me and we'd laugh and that would be that.

Once I realized that my legs were not shaved, in who knows how long, I decided to do a quick lotion shave. Now, my legs feel like a kitten (or two) have scratched my legs till they nearly drew blood. I have that dry, uncomfortable blah feeling going on (must find lotion). In my hast to get a quick shave in, I clearly did not use enough lotion.I thought I would be in the clear because I used some lotion, I have done it dry before and that is not a good thing-at all. The good news for my massage therapist is that it has been done (considering I didn't do it last time, I think that she'll be happy-last time she said "I give men massages, it doesn't bother me", so did she compare my growth to a man? :P)

I thought it would be fun to ask the women at work how often they shave, I told them I was conducting an informal survey. Here's what I found out, most of them shave 1 to 2 times a week... one woman said she actually shaves everyday because she doesn't like any stubble and another woman looked and me and said, "well we are heading into the winter months"- I am pretty sure I know what that means. Another said "I haven't had a boyfriend in awhile soooooo....." I just looked at her then she came up with 1 or 2 times a week, I think she thought I was judging her, but I was actually thinking, "hey I like this girl"... as I was walking away she said "you know when the stubble starts snagging on the sheets is a good indicator that its time to shave" I do like this girl!!!! Obviously you can tell that I am not a big shaver, I don't like it, not in the shower... not for an hour... not in the tub... I'll just keep my stub and sitting on the floor, well that's just a bore... (yes, I'm over the Dr. Seuss rhetoric)

What do you think is the best way to shave your legs?

  • Soap (I typically use this, but you really got to lather it up)
  • Lotion (In a pinch it works, but it can be painful-my friend Patti from high school once gave me a lessen in shaving with lotion, I don't think I paid close enough attention)
  • Shaving Cream (the best way, in my opinion, but I never seem to have any and always forget it at the store-clearly we can see shaving really isn't a priority in my life, my poor James!)

In a world where there can be so much stress, I hope reading about shaving put a smile on your face... now comment below and let me know what works best for you.
