A photo of a Marine who lost both his legs in Afghanistan being carried by his wife has gone viral.

Jesse Cottle tragically lost his legs in 2009 when he stepped on an IED. Jesse and Kelly married last year and decided to celebrate their first year of wedded bliss by getting some photos taken, one of which included the one that has taken the Internet by storm.

In the photo, Kelly carries her husband on her back in a moving moment. Since it was posted on the photographer's Facebook page, the photo has garnered nearly 16,000 likes to date.

Jesse loves the photo, saying,

She's physically carrying me, but there's times where she's carrying me emotionally. It's a perfect representation of who Kelly is."

During Jesse's recovery, he met Kelly while she was at a swim meet in San Diego.

Kelly says Jesse isn't defined by his missing legs, noting, "His personality and who he is just outweighs his injuries by so much that you forget about it after a while."
