Hot weekend temperatures across Northern Colorado have caused the National Weather Service to issue a Flood Advisory for area rivers. Drive through Weld County near the Poudre and you'll find barricades ready for use in case high water causes road closures.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DENVER HAS ISSUED A

* HYDROLOGIC ADVISORY FOR MELTING SNOW IN...
LARIMER COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL COLORADO
WEST CENTRAL WELD COUNTY IN NORTHEAST COLORADO

* UNTIL 300 PM MDT WEDNESDAY

* LOW LYING AREAS ALONG NUMEROUS RIVERS AND STREAMS WILL EXPERIENCE
RISING WATER LEVELS EARLY THIS WEEK.

IN LARIMER COUNTY...THIS INCLUDES THE LARAMIE RIVER...THE CACHE LA
POUDRE RIVER...AND THE BIG THOMPSON RIVER. MINOR FLOODING OF LOW
LYING AREAS CAN BE EXPECTED ALONG THE LARAMIE AND CACHE LA POUDRE
RIVERS AS SNOWMELT AND STREAMFLOWS INCREASE THROUGH TUESDAY.  THE
BIG THOMPSON RIVER THROUGH ESTES PARK IS ALSO FORECAST TO RISE.  BY
LATE MONDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY TUESDAY MORNING...FLOWS MAY BECOME HIGH
ENOUGH TO PRODUCE MINOR FLOODING INTO PARKING LOTS AND WALKWAYS
ALONG THE BIG THOMPSON RIVER IN ESTES PARK.

IN WELD COUNTY...STREAMFLOWS ALONG THE CACHE LA POUDRE HAVE
INCREASED AND THIS TREND WILL ALSO CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
CURRENT FORECASTS SHOW THE WATER LEVEL WILL RISE ANOTHER 6 TO 12
INCHES...WHICH WOULD BE HIGH ENOUGH TO CLOSE 71ST AVENUE OVER THE
CACHE LA POUDRE ON THE NORTHWEST SIDE OF GREELEY.  IN ADDITION...THE
POUDRE RIVER TRAIL IN GREELEY HAS BEEN CLOSED BETWEEN 47TH AVENUE
AND 83RD AVENUE DUE TO HIGH WATER.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

PERSONS WITH INTERESTS ALONG THESE RIVERS AND CREEKS ARE URGED TO
USE EXTREME CAUTION.  STAY CLEAR OF RIVER BANKS THAT COULD BECOME
VERY UNSTABLE DUE TO THE HIGH STREAMFLOWS.  RIVERS AND STREAMS ARE
FLOWING SWIFTLY.
