Late yesterday afternoon, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Johnstown Police officers were at the Budget Host Motel next to Johnson's Corner in Loveland investigating a report of a restraining order violation. The victim was no longer in the apartment complex next to the hotel, but Carl Coons was. He was wanted on several outstanding arrest warrants.

Deputies set up a perimeter and made announcements to Coons to exit the apartment with no response. Nearby buildings were evacuated as a precaution as the announcements continued for hours.  SWAT was called in and deployed Pepperball irritants into the apartment. Coons was taken into custody around 11 last night.

Coons was booked into the Larimer County Jail on allegations of:

Three Counts Violation of a Restraining Order (Class 2 Misdemeanor);
Obstructing Government Operations (Class 3 Misdemeanor);
Felony Warrant – Failure to Appear Possession of Controlled Substance; and
Misdemeanor Warrants x 2 – Fail to Comply Violation of Protection Order.

The charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.
