True to his word, Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith is suing the state of Colorado government.  And so are over 50 other people.

Smith and the other parties are filing lawsuits in protest of new gun laws.  Smith has already been very vocal about his opposition to the gun control laws, so this decision to sue is definitely consistent with his previous statements.

The laws were approved by the state legislature this session after mass shootings at an Aurora movie theater and a Connecticut elementary school. One bans Colorado residents from having magazines that hold 15 rounds. Another mandates background checks for all gun transfers.
