Kid Rock has finally responded to calls for him to disassociate himself with the Confederate Flag. His message is brief, and very true to the rebel-rocker’s nature.

Rock sent a message to Fox News host Megyn Kelley, which she edited before reading on air. “Please tell the people who are protesting to kiss my … ask me some questions,” she reads, all but admitting Rock’s original statement said “Kiss my a—.”

The National Action Network, a group founded by Reverend Al Sharpton, was leading the protests. The Detroit Free Press first reported the group’s demands on Monday, with Rock’s response coming two days later. He hasn’t tweeted or commented on Facebook, leaving Kelley’s quote as his only response.

Many people have pointed out that it’s not clear that Rock — who signed a record deal with the country division of Warner Music earlier this year — even includes images of the Confederate Flag in his live shows. MLive reports that part of the NAN’s demands is for a Kid Rock exhibit at the Detroit Historical Museum to be taken down if the singer (real name Robert Ritchie) doesn’t comply.

The museum has said that there are no displays of the Confederate flag in the Kid Rock Music Lab or anywhere else inside the building.

This weekend, the "First Kiss" and "All Summer Long" singer has tour stops in Virginia Beach, Va. and Raleigh, N.C.
