Kemmerer, Wyoming -Digging For Fossils & Fossil Butte National Monument (Todd’s Big Adventure) [PICTURES]
The main reason my wife and I wanted to visit Kemmerer, Wyoming was to dig for fossils. After all, Kemmerer is the Fish Fossil Capitol of the World. We visited Ulrich’s Fossil Gallery on our last day in Wyoming. It was definitely the highlight of the trip.
We found a few fossils, but the fun is really in the hunt. Every time you split open a rock, you are hoping you find the big one. I think we found some that are worth hanging on the wall.
After fishing for fossils we visited Fossil Butte National Monument. It’s worth a stop at the visitors center just to see all of the impressive fossils they have on display. The scenery at Fossil Butte is breathtaking. If you don’t drive to the top of the monument, you are doing yourself a disservice. On a clear day, you can see for a hundred miles. Very impressive. Check out the pictures my wife and I took and I think you will agree.
