Jason Aldean Reveals Fifth Studio Album Is Complete, New Single on the Way
Jason Aldean released his fourth studio album, ‘My Kinda Party,’ in November of 2010, and since then he’s seen his career skyrocket as his singles climb the charts with a ferocity and his My Kinda Party Tour continues to sell out faster than tickets can go on sale. In an interview backstage at Sunday’s (April 1) ACM Awards, Aldean told reporters that he’s finished with his fifth studio album and ready to release the first single to the world this summer.
“We went in and cut this record like we have every other record,” he said. “It starts with finding great songs. That’s number one. We were able to do that. We found some songs that I think are not right-down-the-middle, mainstream things. They’re things that allowed us to branch out a little more, which we did on the ‘My Kinda Party’ album” (quotes via CMT).
That album, ‘My Kinda Party,’ has sold more than 2 million copies to date and spawned the single ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay,’ a duet with Kelly Clarkson that netted recent ACM Awards for Vocal Event of the Year and Single Record of the Year. After the success of his 2010 album, Aldean seems comfortable to just keep being himself moving forward and to keep experimenting and doing what feels right to him.
“It’s just about pushing and trying new things but also not ever getting away completely from what got you to this point,” he says. “I think there’s a very fine line right there.” Aldean jumps back on tour May 10, stopping in Peoria, Ill.
