I have reached that point in life where you do a lot of reflecting and looking back at things. I have come to realize that I have spent so much time trying to achieve success and filling my trophy case that I have missed some of the coolest things in life. Getting wrapped up in a career is great but don't do it at the expense of the more important and fulfilling things in life like creating memories with the ones you love.

As I was playing catch with my son at his house this weekend it dawned on me that I missed a lot of that. I went to his games and my daughters games when they were growing up but I didn't get out and throw the ball around with them nearly enough. I went to plenty of work related events and parties and public relations opportunities but was checked out in my personal life much more than I realized. I see it now.

Don't let a trophy or title be what defines you. The people around you, the relationships you have with them and how they feel about you is what really matters. Memories are life's currency and I want to die rich. I don't want to be remembered for what I have won. I want to live on in the hearts and minds of those I love. It took awhile...but I get it now. Touch some lives and get involved in the ones that matter and you win.
