We knew it was going to be windy in Northern Colorado today, but I don't think many of us expected the high winds that we would ultimately endure.

Wind gusts around the Foothills and Northern Colorado exceeded 100 MPH in a few areas, while it was hard to find gusts that averaged less than 50 MPH throughout the region.

Residents throughout the state tweeted what they saw on their commutes around the area, with photo evidence of how dangerous the winds got. (Tweets courtesy of Denver Channel 7)

The champion for strongest wind gust today was Rocky Flats which recorded a speed of 102 MPH earlier today.

In Northern Colorado, the top gust in Fort Collins was recorded to be 77 MPH.

There was also a report of a wind gust stronger than 80 MPH just west of Horsetooth.
