How the Heck is Susan Doing?
I have felt your well wishes and prayers this week, and I thank you so much. I am on the mend from another of those instances where I think, “Well it just wasn’t my day to die.”

Tuesday afternoon my yearling filly’s front hoof ‘connected’ with my head. Volare’s hoof pushed my sunglasses into face, broke my nose and knocked out 3 crowns on my teeth.
I managed to find them in the manure, put ‘em in my pocket, and told my husband , ‘I need to go to the dentist’. He thought stitches were the first priority and took me to the ER for 7 of them. The dentist was able to put the crowns back on the next day. What a nightmare.
Thursday was a day of rest for me as friends organized a barn cleaning crew, came out, cleaned with a vengeance, and found the peace of doing mindless work in the barn. I’d gotten lots of offers of help, but this group wouldn’t take no for an answer…they stepped up against my protests and 4 of them worked for over an hour to catch me up. They ARE my valued friends. Brian, Brad, a record rep., Amy Harris…Todd was a little late.

WAIT, there’s more. Horses will find anything they can to hurt themselves. My mare Tiara had a terrible accident with a bolt on a gate. She has been staying with my friend Alicia and her horse Maggie near Greeley. Thank you Dr. Zackarias from Countryside Animal Hospital…with the beautiful hands of a surgeon.

Tiara and I are going to heal together…in a clean barn.
