An icy dip for a horse ended well, thankfully. Indian Hills Fire Rescue and Evergreen Fire Rescue rescued a horse from a pond near Evergreen on Saturday morning. The pond at Parmalee Gulch Road was in the horse's corral and the animal decided to walk onto the ice, which broke under the horse's weight. The horse's owner spotted her and called 911 and animal control. A vet examined the horse for injuries at the scene.

“The horse appeared to be very tired, cold and was in distress,” said Lt. Stacee Montague with Evergreen Fire Rescue.
