Smoke is visible across Colorado and in Nebraska and Wyoming as a fire continues to grow quickly in Northern Colorado. The High Park Fire burning just 15 miles west of Fort Collins is now estimated to be 20,000 acres. 2,200 evacuation notices have been sent out as a result of a fire that is growing out of control due to high winds in the area. Gusts as high as 42 MPH in the area of the fire were reported Sunday.

THE LOSSES SO FAR

At least 18 structures have been reported lost in the High Park Fire, one person was unaccounted for Sunday evening. Right now, the efforts are focused on saving lives, then property second, if possible.

Visibility concerns exist along Highway 287 due to smoke. The road is closed from 54G just south of Ted’s Place to Owl Canyon.

EVACUATION CENTER MOVES TO THE RANCH AND MEETINGS FOR THOSE AFFECTED

The evacuation center is being moved back to the McKee Building at The Ranch in Loveland due to smoke. The Cache La Poudre School will no longer serve as the evacuation center.

Tomorrow’s citizen breifings on Monday at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. will take place at the McKee Building (at The Ranch.)
