The Black Forest fire has claimed two lives and destroyed 480 homes.  There are over 1,000 firefighters battling the 15,000 acre Fire in El Paso County. What you may not know is that the 1157th Engineer Firefighter Company Colorado National Guard has been right by their side the whole time.  I have some amazing pictures from  the Colorado National Guard.

The Black Forest fire was 65 percent contained as of Sunday afternoon.  The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.  As of Sunday, the cost of fighting the fire was $5.2 million.

Military helicopters dispatched to fight the wildfire have now been sent back home. The Colorado National Guard is still on sight helping secure roadblocks, among many other duties.

Thanks to Colorado National Guard and Flickr for all the photos!
