Last week, we reported that fallen Weld County Sheriff’s Deputy Sam Brownlee's car would be going up for auction to benefit Concerns of Police Survivors, an organization that helps the families of police killed in the line of duty, just like the Brownlee family. Now, Sherriff Deputy Brownlee's son, Tanner, is bidding on the car.

Tanner Brownlee has started a gofundme page to help him raise enough money to win his dad's old patrol car. It reads:

Hello everyone,
My name is Tanner Brownlee, the son of Deputy Sam Brownlee. I saw that his car is going to be auctioned on Wednesday the 13th and I'd like to go and bid for it. I understand there will be a lot of high bidders, but, I am willing to do what it takes to get this car. It meant a lot to my dad and he cared so much for it. I think if anyone should be able to gain such an incredible honor to own such a special vehicle, it would be me or my little brother. I personally, being his son, would want someone I trust to have this car and take care of it. My father's police car is something he was very much attached to and to someone else it may just be some car. But to me, it was my dad's. I want to show my father that I've grown into a man and

take the responsibility to keep his legacy alive. This would be a huge step in doing so. Thank you!

The auction begins at 6:30 p.m. today, so there is not much time to help Tanner, but we can't imagine anyone else who deserves the car more.

UPDATE: May 14, 2015, 10:30 a.m.: Steven Wells purchased the car for $60,000 before handing over the keys to Tanner Brownlee. See more here (source: The Denver Channel, 7 News Denver).
