When I was growing up, there were a few country artists that were cool to everyone, even those who weren’t into country. I remember having cassette tapes of Waylon, Alabama and Hank Jr. with the letters wore off from playing them over and over at parties. It didn’t matter what walk of life you were, you still liked that kind of country. Hank Jr. music has been a part of the soundtrack of my life since the 70’s. When we became “K99” back in the late 80’s the very first song we ever played was Hank’s “Young Country”.

Today Bocephus turns 62 years old. Happy Birthday Hank, hope you and all your rowdy friends enjoy the pig roast tonight. Let’s take a trip back together to birth of K99 and check out the video for “Young Country”.

What is your favorite Hank Jr. Song?
