Edna Walters began her career as a chocolate dipper in the 1930's. She and her late husband, Jim,  moved to Loveland in the 1960's and founded Sunny Jim's Candy Ranch on Highway 34. Edna or Mrs. Sunny Jim Walters marked her 100th birthday with a party on Saturday. Here's what she said when asked her secret for living a long life:

"I just liked it all — chocolate, hard candy, brittles," she said. "I never did smoke, never drank, but I ate a lot of candy. That might be the secret."

The Walters sold the candy store in 1974 and it continues operation still today.  It even survived the flood last fall that swept through the big Thompson Canyon.
