An old hand grenade had to be removed from a garage at a Fort Collins retirement community yesterday. According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan, the Northern Colorado Bomb Squad, Poudre Fire Authority and other law enforcement agencies contained and removed what appeared to be an very old military had grenade  at The Terrace at MacKenzie Place on Pleasant Oak Drive. Employees were cleaning out a garage unit Wednesday night when they found the explosive device.

Crews worked to package the grenade and take it to a secure location. Because of the isolated location of the garage, no units in the retirement community were evacuated, but residents were put on heightened alert.
