An 18-year-old Greeley Safeway employee has been arrested for allegedly starting fires in the store where he worked.

Greeley Fire Department was called to the Safeway at 3526 W. 10th Street, at 4:09 AM. on Monday, after a fire was reported at the store, while the store was closed. Several suspicious fires were discovered and all were contained by firefighters or the building fire suppression system.

A review of video surveillance revealed that a store employee had been seen in the areas where each of the fires was set. Christopher Adame was arrested by Greeley Police officers. He was booked at the Weld County Jail on charges of First Degree Arson, Attempted Theft, Tampering with Evidence and False Reporting to Authorities. Damage estimates were around $5,000. The store remains open for business.
