The Greeley Fire Department had to rescue a cow that had fallen through the ice on a creek near the South Platte River. The cow had plunged through the ice in an 8 foot deep section of the creek at 3791 East 18th Street. It had been in the water for at least 45 minutes before firefights arrived.

A utility rope was secured around the torso of the cow and she was pulled to safety with the help of a Weld County loader that had been working in the area.

A veterinarian was called, but was not needed. The cold, wet cow took off to the pasture with only minor cuts.

This story kind of reminded me of the video game "Cowabunga". I have it on my iPhone except there was no inner tube to bounce the cow out of the creek.
