Greeley-Evans Crime Log Just Keeps Getting Better

The Greeley-Evans crime log is out for April 4th through April 9th and it won't let you down once again. From people needing to suck it up to mothballs, it has it all.

Sunday, April 4

11 a.m.: Evans police respond to Magnolia Street on a report of five or six cats that live under a bush in the neighborhood but poop in everyone else’s yards. The caller said he was tired of cleaning up after the cats and wanted to know what he could do about them.

Monday, April 5

10:45 a.m.: Evans police responded to a restaurant on 31st Street after a manager threatened to fire an employee for not showing up for work. The employee told police she had a note from the doctor.

1:45 p.m.: Evans police responded to 37th Street and Riverside Parkway for a report of a man and a boy shooting off bottle rockets in the park. Evans police responded and determined the man and the boy were shooting off model rockets.

Tuesday, April 6

11 a.m.: Greeley police responded to 10th Street to assist an 18-year-old man search bus records for a missing juvenile. Officers quickly learned the missing juvenile was really the man’s 43-year-old mother. The man was upset his mother was “leaving.” Police told the man to suck it up and start acting like an adult.

5 p.m.: Greeley police responded to a house on 44th Avenue for a report of a dog that ate a bunch of Easter candy and then got sick all over the floor.

Wednesday, April 7

6 a.m.: Dispatchers received a call from a woman in the 2400 block of 13th Avenue about a red flashing light in the sky. The caller just wanted to know if it was something she should be worried about.

7 a.m.: Evans police responded to a restaurant in the 600 block of 31st Street for a report of a dispute over a cell phone charger. The caller said a man tried to steal his charger and he “about punched his lights out.” The caller also was upset the restaurant manager didn’t do anything to help, saying the manager should have because he is a regular. The caller also noted he had never called 911 about anything in his life. Dispatch records showed he called 911 about 38 times since the end of March, mostly for courtesy rides.

12:30 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 7000 block of 20th Street for a report of two teenagers wearing basketball shorts who were “frantically” digging a hole in the common area next to a gas station. The teens were replacing a broken sprinkler head.

6:30 p.m.: Evans police responded to a motel in the 3000 block of 8th Avenue for a suspicious vehicle report. Officers drove by and located a woman sitting in her Ford Taurus eating fast food.

7 p.m.: Evans police responded to State Farm Road on a report that a neighbor was trying to poison the caller with moth balls after the caller confronted him about stealing his building’s water for irrigation. The caller said his neighbor gave him “the stare of death” when he confronted him. He suspected the neighbor was trying to poison his dog first. He told police he would set up a webcam to gather intelligence.

Thursday, April 8

4:45 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 3100 block of 21st Avenue for a report of a large wild turkey on the loose. The caller told dispatch the turkey appeared lost and that his nephew would try to catch it until police arrived.

5:15 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 1600 block of Glenmere Boulevard for a report of men hanging out in the park who looked “all gangster type.”

Friday, April 9

12:30 a.m.: Greeley police responded to 7th Avenue and 13th Street for a report of an intoxicated woman walking on the train tracks. The caller was worried because the woman was alone in the “sketch part of Greeley.”

6:30 p.m.: Greeley police responded to Bittersweet Park for a report of a woman who walked her dog right through a city of Greeley soccer game. The woman’s dog pooped in the middle of the field. She didn’t bother to pick it up.
