Grass Fire Burned Near Carter Lake Over the Weekend
Colorado is under a Red Flag Warning, something we are so familiar with, but it is rare to have such high fire danger in November. A fire was reported Saturday morning, and it caused a spot fire after gusty winds carried flying embers to another location.
The fast-moving grass fire spread to about 18 acres near Carter Lake Reservoir west of Loveland over the weekend before it was contained. No evacuations were ordered and no injuries were reported during the fire. Crews from Loveland Fire and rescue, Johnstown, Poudre Fire, Larimer County Emergency Services and Windsor all responded to the blaze. Crews worked overnight to insure protection. The cause of the fire is under investigation The Fern Lake Fire in Rocky Mountain National Park also continued to burn Saturday as it reached 1,370 acres.
