The Greeley Stampede announced the 2015 Grand Marshals at a gathering of the past Grand Marshals this week. Bob and Ann Ghent will be honored during the 93rd Annual Stampede June 25 - July 5th at Island Grove Park.

Bob and Ann were raised, educated, and built their life as prominent community leaders right here in Greeley. As a former Grand Marshal myself, I couldn't think of a better choice. I remember when Brian Bungee jumped in the Ghent Chevrolet parking lot during a K99 live broadcast back in the 90s.  Bob and I were sharing that memory at the Grand Marshal gathering on Tuesday.

 Cool Stuff Bob Has Done

Bob’s leadership, is not just associated with his family’s successful business, which of course is Ghent Chevrolet and Cadillac, but also his involvement in the community. He has dedicated his time to the Greeley Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Weld County, Greeley Rotary Club, served on Northern Colorado Medical Center Foundation’s Monfort Children’s Clinic, which provides medical care to low-income families. Ghent co-chaired, with wife Ann, the American Cancer Society’s Cattle Barons Ball in 2010, an annual event that raises money to fund cancer research and patient care. He’s supported Weld County School District 6 and the Advancement for Individual Determination (AVID) program which helps train and prepare students for employment opportunities believing that every child deserves the right to a good education. He also won the Mark of Excellence for Chevrolet and Cadillac in 2011 and in 2014 was named Colorado's Time Magazine Dealer of the Year winner.

 Cool Stuff Ann Has Done

Ann graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 1984 with a BS in business finance and competed in College gymnastics for those 4 years. After graduating she worked in residential loans. She and Bob met and were married after three years together. After their son Erick and daughter Sara were born Ann and Bob considered themselves blessed twice over. Ann volunteered at the Greeley Parks and Recreation to coach Erick and Sara’s Mighty Mitesteams. She also judged high school gymnastics and was an assistant coach for Northern Colorado Soccer Club (then Bootleggers). She served as a board member of Child Advocacy Resource and Education (C.A.R.E.) for 13 years. Ann worked as a substitute teacher for school district six and in 2010 was a co-chair with husband, Bob for Cattle Barons Ball. She is a supportive member of the Greeley Philharmonic Guild and has been a PEO sister since 1994. Ann is a card carrying member of American Quarter Horse Association and Northern Colorado Riding Club where she competes year around on her two horses.
