Estes Park, the town that hosted me and my wife as we vowed to spend the rest of our lives together, was already hurting from the flood; but the government shutdown has made things even worse, and it's breaking my heart.

When the flood destroyed Highway 34 between Loveland and Estes Park, it left only two roads in and out of the small mountain town.  However, one of those was Trail Ridge Road, which runs through Rocky Mountain National Park...which is now closed due to the government shutdown.

The result: nobody is visiting Estes Park.  And it's forcing many local businesses to close their doors.

The video from 9 News below has more on this story.  I hope my wife and I can make it up there again soon...
