Government Shutdown Closes One of the 2 Roads into Estes Park

There were two roads into the town of Estes Park yesterday, but today we’re down to just one.

Rocky Mountain National Park has closed Trail Ridge Road after Congress failed to fund the federal government.

The town lost two major routes to the recent floods and now has lost another due to a government shutdown. Like all other national parks, Rocky Mountain National Park was immediately closed upon the shutdown.

Governor Hickenlooper called Congress, ‘knuckleheads’, and said if we have to pay National Guard Engineers to continue their work on getting roads rebuilt, we will.
